India and Korea both witnessed an exploitative and violent colonial rule during the occupation by the British and the Japanese, respectively. Though, both the nations were never connected to each other through movement of people from one country to another, it has been pointed out by many scholars that both the nations were connected through some common ideas to fight the colonial rule. Mahatma Gandhi, who became a global leader, influenced many people through his ideas and methodology to fight suppression during colonial rule in South Africa and then in India. Korea was also not untouched by the influence of this Mahatma and one can find similarities of his work with many Korean nationalists. In this paper, I would like to draw out the impact of MK Gandhi on the Korean Independence Movement.
